Rui Macedo, a Portuguese artist born in Évora in 1975, graduated in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon in 1999 and obtained a postgraduate and Master’s degree in Painting at the same University. He has received numerous Merit Grants in Visual Arts and Painting: Plastic Arts Project – Painting for the installation Le récit spéculaire, Centro de Artes de Sines, DRCA/Ministério da Cultura. Lisbon in 2007; Artistic Project – Visual Arts, from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation for the installation Kaleidoscope (curator José Bragança de Miranda) at the Museu de Grão Vasco in Viseu, Portugal, in 2011; or the Research Grant from CIEBA (Centro de Investigação e estudos em Belas-Artes, secção de Pintura) /FCT (Fundação Ciência e Tecnologia) in 2011-2012.
Rui Macedo Recent installations and exhibitions include: Nimium ne credere colori, Museu de Évora, curated by António Camões Gouveia, in 2010 or, from the same year, Puzzle this, Fundação D. Luís I, curated by Salvato Teles de Menezes, in Cascais, Portugal. In 2011 he presented La totalidad imposible at IVAM, curated by Consuelo Císcar Casabán and Salvato Teles de Menezes; in 2012 De Pictura #2 was presented at Centrum SSSL, in Pontedera, Italy, curated by Marco Abbondanza and, also in 2012, he presented at the Museu de Grão Vasco, Caleidoscópio, curated by José Bragança de Miranda, in Viseu, Portugal.
