Promoted by Joaquim Ribeiro dos Santos, one of the artisans of the Cavaquinho factory, it began in 1789 at Lazareto in Afurada, Gaia. It was a small factory where small figures where made under the influence of Staffordshire pottery.

It closed during the Napoleonic invasion and opened up again in 1830. During this time until 1860 the ceramist Jeronimo Gomes came to work at the factory. It would close soon after.

Apartamento Afurada
The apartment is located on the corner of the main street and the gardens. The windows of its charming living room overlook Rua da Restauração and the building´s main gardens, as does the kitchenette that is integrated into the living room. Being on the ground flooring, the apartment has high ceilings and large windows that let in the light at midday and in the evening. The apartment´s south-west – north-east orientation mean that it is bright, while the views onto the gardens add to its charm. The wooden flooring provides both warmth and comfort.
