Massarelos House was conceived by the idea of bringing to Porto the successful concept of Baixa House in Lisbon (www.baixahouse.com). Apartments for touristic use, with customised service, daily housekeeping and breakfast, all in a Portuguese atmosphere surrounded by well-kept traditional architecture and fine decoration.
We are restoring a set of four XIX century buildings located next to the Church of Santo Corpo de Massarelos thus the name of our neighbourhood, and just 300 feet from the River Douro. Our buildings can be found between Rua da Restauraçao, built in 1816 with the purpose of connecting the Plaza de la Cordoaria with the river, and the charming Rua de Entrequintas where one almost finds oneself in the rural outskirts.

Rehabilitating the city
The final outcome will be a set of 17 apartments of different profiles. Also, a garden will extend the site into a recreational area fit for relaxing in this attractive and beautiful city of Porto.

What inspires us
The City, the Douro River, its history and its people. The factories of earthenware of the 19th century, its architecture of the 20th century, the English people in the city, the gardens and the young Portuguese artists.
Our team comprises the architect Nuno Sottomayor, the engineer Vitor Monteiro and the interior decorator Javier Carrasco. These are all coordinated and guided by the founder of this initiative, Jesús Moraime, who in turn is the landscapist of the garden. The construction works are led by the company Paviana Construcçoes, who also completed the restoration works in Lisbon at Baixa House.
